We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Building Services Engineer (Mechanical) to provide technical leadership and ensure the delivery of high-quality engineering services across a diverse property portfolio. This pivotal role involves managing both planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring compliance with statutory duties, and promoting sustainable and efficient building services solutions.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Leadership & Management:
  • Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and technicians.
  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance across Council and client properties.
  • Manage budgets, procurement processes, and contractor performance effectively.
• Technical Delivery:
  • Provide expert guidance on mechanical Building Services Engineering (BSE) systems.
  • Develop technical specifications, risk assessments, and engineering reports.
  • Ensure all activities comply with statutory duties and CDM regulations.
• Collaboration & Innovation:
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to implement resilient maintenance strategies.
  • Promote best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Support lessons-learned processes to enhance overall service delivery.

Key Components of Building Services Engineering:

• Mechanical Systems:
  • Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC): Indoor climate and air quality control.
  • Plumbing & Drainage: Water supply, waste disposal, and sanitation.
  • Fire Protection: Sprinklers, smoke control, and suppression systems.
• Electrical Systems:
  • Power Distribution: Wiring, switchgear, and backup power.
  • Lighting: Interior and exterior lighting design.
  • Building Automation: Controls for HVAC, lighting, and energy management.
• Public Health Engineering:
  • Water treatment, hot water systems, and sanitary installations.
• Specialist Systems:
  • Renewable Energy: Solar panels, heat pumps.
  • Safety & Security: CCTV, access control, alarms.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Degree or HND in Building Services Engineering or a related field.
• Professional registration as an Incorporated Engineer.
• Extensive experience in mechanical BSE design, maintenance, and project delivery.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide a team.
• Strong communication and analytical skills, capable of managing multiple projects
